We were excited to unveil eCMS v.4.2 during our Customer Focus 2020 Virtual Conference! 

eCMS v.4.2 is designed with our product development strategy in mind of having all mission-critical information in one place and easily accessible, enhancing our users' experience so you achieve more with less, and always leveraging the latest technological advancements. General release is expected in November 2020 after customer beta testing has been concluded. 

eCMS v.4.2 brings to you:

Product Updates

Current eCMS Release Level

eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 6 is the most current version of eCMS available.

The current release level of your eCMS environment is shown at the right end of the blue bar at the bottom of your eCMS menu screen for v.4.1 environments. It is also shown on the About eCMS screen or by entering ABOUTCMS on a green-screen command line and paging down to see information about your environment(s).

Over 65% of all CGC eCMS customers (85% of hosted customers) are using the current version of eCMS. If you need to upgrade to the most current release, please submit a ticket to make the request or contact your CGC Client Success Team.

Supported eCMS Releases

All eCMS release levels are supported for break/fix assistance. However, sometimes the fix for an issue may require upgrading your eCMS environment to a more current release level.

Fully supported release levels are those for which modifications, enhancements, and installation updates are provided.

  • eCMS v.4.2 Release
  • eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 6 or later 

The only release levels supported for the 2020 Year-End update package are shown below. The quarter/year-end updates for releases earlier than the fully supported release levels above may include only the legally required changes.

  • eCMS v.4.2 Release
  • eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 6 or later
  • eCMS v.4.1 SP2 Fix Pack 8
  • eCMS v.3.7 SP12 Fix Pack 4
  • eCMS v.3.4.3 SP14 Fix Pack 3 

If your eCMS environment is not at one of the supported release levels listed above and you need the year-end update, please contact your CGC Client Success Team.

Year-End Update

Year-End Fix Packs for your planning purposes: the 2020 Year-End Fix Packs will ONLY be provided for the release levels shown below. If you are using an unsupported release level and have not already done so, please submit a ticket requesting an eCMS upgrade to a supported release as soon as possible. Release Levels Supported:

  • eCMS v.4.2
  • eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 8 6 or later
  • eCMS v.4.1 SP2 Fix Pack 8
  • eCMS v.3.7 SP12 Fix Pack 4
  • CMS v.3.4.3 SP14 Fix Pack 3

NOTE to eCMS v.3.7 and CMS v.3.4.3 Customers: The 2020 Year-End updates will include only changes mandated by law, if any. For questions or concerns, please contact your Customer Success Manager. Please watch for further communication in the coming weeks.

Hot Fix 601 for eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 6

Hot Fix 601 for eCMS v.4.1 SP3 Fix Pack 6 has recently become available. CGC Software Delivery will first deliver HF601 to hosted customers (no ticket required) and to non-hosted customers who submit a ticket with the request. Then the remaining non-hosted customers will be contacted and delivery scheduled. The Release Notes are available on the CGC Customer Website.

Paid Sick Leave (PSL)

A training video and product documentation are available for our enhanced Paid Sick Leave feature. 

Various state and local agencies now require that Sick time benefits be provided to employees that work within those jurisdictions and those benefits are displayed on check stubs with regular pay cycles.

In summary, the features allow flexibility to print on check stub the Sick Hours Available, taken, and accrued. The accrual rate master allows the setup to be company, state, or local specific.  We have provided IDI listing for reports.  We have new options that provide access to maintenance files.

To participate fully in these features, you need to be at release eCMS v.4.1, Service Pack 3 and Fix Pack 6 or higher.  The training video gives you the beginning to end steps to use this feature. After reviewing all documentation, if you feel additional training/guidance is needed, please submit an incident to schedule Professional Services to assist you.

Enhanced Support for the
2020 Form W-4

Changes have been made in eCMS to better support the 2020 Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate. This will require a special update providing new programs and a one-time data conversion to the Payroll employee record and the tax tables. You can expect this update sometime before the end of October. It needs to be installed prior to performing your 2020 year-end processing or creating the tax tables for 2021. More information will be coming.

MS Office 365 Update Package

Microsoft has announced that on October 15, 2020, it will no longer be supporting TLS 1.0 or 1.1, the encryption methodology used to communicate with Office 365. This affects the email communications used by eCMS, also including HRSS and some IDI Web2 applications.

A special update package was created, Hot Fix 600, to install the changes to use the supported TLS 1.2 encryption method. This has already been delivered to most customers using MSO 365. All hosted customers using MSO 365 will be updated by Friday, October 9.

Since CGC doesn’t know which non-hosted, on-premise customers are using MSO 365, they were notified of the update by email and asked to submit a ticket requesting the update be installed on their system if they use MSO 365. These tickets will be scheduled and the dedicated hot fix will be installed as soon as possible after receipt of the ticket.

Upcoming Holidays

  • CGC will be closed on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27, 2020, in observance of the United States Thanksgiving Holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 30, 2020.
  • CGC will be also closed on December 25, 2020, for Christmas Day, and will resume normal business hours on Monday, December 28, 2020, and on January 1, 2021, for New Years Day, and then open on Monday, January 4, 2021.
